Application Process
  1. Call the receptionist at the Elbert County Campus of Athens Technical College AT (706) 213-2100, or visit the campus in the Yeargin Building Room 111 and ask for the Commercial Truck Driving program admission packet.
  2. Complete the Athens Technical College Application Form, the FAFSA Form (for financial aid), and the Drug & Alcohol Policy Acknowledgement Form (included in the CTD admission packet). Return the completed forms with the non-refundable application fee to the Elbert or Walton County Campus.
  3. You must take a placement test (COMPASS), which will be administered by the college at the Elbert or Walton County Campus. Ask the Admissions Office to schedule you for one of the upcoming dates.
  4. After you successfully complete the COMPASS Test you must provide the Admissions Office with a seven-year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) (official copy that must be current within 30 days of the start of the course). The MVR may be obtained from the Georgia Department of Motor Vehicle Safety.
  5. After the Admissions Office reviews the MVR, if it is acceptable, you will then be advised to complete all other admission requirements.
  6. Submit an official and current DOT physical exam.
  7. Submit a NIDA-5 drug screening, current within 10 days of the start of the course.
