Nancy Coggins Seymour

Nancy Coggins Seymour earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Georgia in 1975. She completed graduate work at Georgia Washington University and American University in Washington, D.C. Ms. Seymour is employed by Elbert Memorial Hospital in Elberton, Georgia where she serves as Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Patient Advocate and Auxiliary Liaison. In addition, she serves as the Executive Director of the Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation. She has served in these positions since 1998. Prior to employment at Elbert Memorial Hospital, Ms. Seymour was Vice President at Coggins Industries, Inc.

Ms. Seymour has a breadth of experience in government at the state and national levels. She is a Citizen Member of the Southern Growth Policies Board. Ms. Seymour was Co-coordinator of the Georgia Office for the Carter-Mondale Inaugural Committee, and she received a Presidential Appointment as Staff Assistant, Department of Interior. She later served as Staff Assistant for U. S. Senator Herman E. Talmadge and then served as White House Advance Person for First Lady Rosalynn Carter.

Ms. Seymour is very active in her local community and recently complete the Elberton Leadership Class. She is a member of the Elberton Rotary Club and Past President of the Elberton Kiwanis Club. She served as Chairman of the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce (1996), and has been a member of the Georgia Economic Development Association. Ms. Seymour is a graduate of Leadership Georgia (1981), and the Georgia Academy for Economic Development (1996). She served as a volunteer during the 1996 Olympic Games in Athens, Georgia. In addition, she served as Coordinator of the Elbert County Mentor Program and as Secretary of the Elberton Sister City Committee. She has served as President of the Elberton Civic League, President of the Blackwell Elementary School P.T.O. and Senior Warden at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Elberton, Georgia.

Ms. Seymour is married to Joel Seymour, Elberton City Councilman. She has two sons, Franklin Whitworth, who is married to Elizabeth, and Christopher Whitworth.
