Career Exploration and Workshops
Figuring out what you want to do with your life is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. You can only see the big picture after fitting all the little pieces in place. The easiest way to discover the career that best suits you is to learn more about yourself. A great way to do that is through the Georgia Career Information System (GCIS). With GCIS, you will find an exceptional career exploration program. It offers a number of online inventories to complete in order to determine the career path that most closely matches your interests, preferences, skills, and values.
To help you get started with GCIS, we have created Career Exploration at Your Fingertips (PDF) which has instructions for accessing the Georgia Career Information System from any computer. Once you have completed your GCIS inventories and saved your results to your portfolio, you can contact a Career Services specialist on any Athens Technical College campus for an appointment to review your profile and discuss possible career options.
Each school term, the Career Services Coordinator offers workshops on the Athens Campus covering topics such as career exploration, resume development, cover letter writing, and polishing interview skills. Through these seminars, students have the opportunity to learn strategies and techniques on how to be successful in a competitive and dynamic job market. Similar career-related workshops are also offered on the satellite campuses of Athens Technical College.
For a list of the current semester's Career Services sessions being offered at any Athens Tech campus, please check the ATC Online Calendar at www.athenstech.edu for the times and locations of each.
