Community Service: Rotaract clubs carry out
at least one Community Service project each
year in an effort to improve the lives of the
people around them. The possibilities for
worthwhile projects are endless. Rotaractors
not only have great ideas about how to help
people in need, but together they have the
power to make these ideas work. Many
Rotaract service projects focus on current issues
of importance to young adults everywhere.
Successful examples of the Rotaract
spirit in action span the globe:
- Rotaractors from throughout Argentina
helped the country's Ministry of Health
implement a national public awareness
campaign to halt the deadly spread of
AIDS.
- The Rotaract Club of Mombasa in Kenya
worked with UNICEF and government
agencies to provide desperately needed
food and clothing for homeless children.
- Rotaract clubs in Korea devised and implemented
a nationwide anti-drug and antiviolence
campaign aimed at teenage
students in dangerous urban areas.
- The Rotaract Club of Colombo Metropolitan
in Sri Lanka organized a fund-raising
dance to provide disabled youth with
scholarships for higher education.
Leadership Development: Rotaract builds
leaders, and leaders build strong clubs with
effective programs. Toward this end, Rotaract
clubs organize communication and public
speaking seminars, talks on effective club
administration, training programs for club
officers, workshops that explore ways to
organize and promote club projects, and
informative meetings about Rotary
programs and activities.
Professional Development: Early career
decisions are critical ones. Rotaract clubs
help their members make informed choices
through marketing and management seminars,
conferences on business ethics, vocational
counseling and career planning
programs and business technology updates.
Business and professional support from successful
Rotarians help make these programs
especially valuable.
Rotaractors work hard, but they believe
having a good time. They hold barbecues,
rallies, camping trips, interclub visits,
cultural festivals, special lectures, sporting
events, and more. Sometimes these activities
are designed to raise money for a club
project. Whatever they do, Rotaractors
how to have fun, make friends and make
world a little better in the process.
