ATC Truck Driving Program
Class of 2006
Company Driver
Superior Bulk Logistics

"The ATC truck driving program has provided me with the fundamental skills necessary to obtaining a career in the transportation (trucking) industry.

This course provided me with a good balance of hands-on training along with classroom training to learn about all the various federal & State regulations, basic equipment and operating knowledge, along with log book record keeping. All of which is necessary to obtain a CDL. While not required for course completion, this program also provided me with the necessary training to obtain endorsements for double & triple trailer combinations, tankers, and hazmat. I'm currently using my tanker and hazmat endorsement with my present employer.

Since I had never driven an 18 wheeler prior to this course, I was looking for the basic driving skills that would keep me and everyone else on the road safe. We had a great instructor (Don Nestor) who taught us safety thru fundamental driving skills such as double clutch shifting, backing, turning and overall maneuvering of the truck.

Upon graduation of this course I have had several job offers from various trucking companies who operate vans, reefers, flatbeds, and tankers. After doing the research on various companies, I have chosen to drive for a bulk chemical carrier. I now operate a tanker and haul various chemicals to meet their customer's needs. If you are thinking about a career in the trucking industry, consider the Commercial Truck Driving Program that Athens Technical College provides as your first step to the road to success."
