Three campuses in Elberton (Elbert County), Greensboro (Greene County), and Monroe (Walton County) offer additional courses and programming through Athens Technical College.

Valdosta State University signed articulation agreements with Athens Technical College on Monday, simplifying student transition between the two institutions of higher education. "Athens Technical College is focused on student success, and we welcome opportunities to help guide them on their educational journeys,” said Dr. Andrea Daniel, president of Athens Technical College. “We are thrilled to announce this articulation agreement with Valdosta State University so that students can seamlessly transition from associate to bachelor’s degrees. We have had a great experience working with Valdosta State University to coordinate this agreement, and we are excited that our students will now have the opportunity to enroll in this outstanding institution."

The Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management program of study at Athens Technical College equips students with the knowledge and skills to launch or advance a career in hospitality, Georgia’s second largest industry. Those who enjoy working with people in a fast-paced environment are provided with the academic background and real-world internship experience to be successful, and they will not have to go far to find employment opportunities. This region has numerous hotels, restaurants, and country clubs, from limited service to luxury resorts. Graduates may also choose to work at chambers of commerce, convention centers, travel agencies, airlines, and hospitals or schools. Whether graduates decide to stay in Georgia or travel the world, a hospitality degree is very marketable.

For the eleventh straight year, the Radiography program at Athens Technical College has achieved a one hundred percent pass rate on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national certification exam. Over the same period of time, the national average rate for passing the exam hovered around ninety percent. In 2015, the state average for Georgia was ninety-one percent.

Ryan Thomas is from Danielsville, Georgia where he attended Madison County High School. Upon graduation, Ryan made the decision to attend Athens Technical College to further his education. He stated, “Growing up near Athens, I always knew that Athens Technical College would be convenient for me to get my core classes taken care of prior to continuing my education. Athens Technical College afforded me the opportunity to determine the best degree for my educational and career path.” Ryan goes on to say, “I chose the Business Management program because I felt like it would benefit me more than any other program. It would also give me real life situations that I would encounter on a daily basis.”

Animals have long been recognized as a positive addition to the healing process. In facilities, visits from therapy dogs have shown an increased happiness, calmness, and overall emotional well-being. Studies have shown a decrease in blood pressure and stress levels during therapy dog visits. Therapy dogs provide a break from the daily routine, like the dreaded semester finals.
With campuses in Athens, Elberton, Monroe, and Greensboro, there is a place for everyone.
