Congratulations to the Athens Technical College members of the Alpha Beta Gamma, Business Honor Society as they capped off an impressive year of campus and community service. Their outstanding efforts were recognized at the recent annual National Leadership Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico by winning several major National awards. The following is a list of awards won:

ATC Staff Member Receives Superior Performance Award

Congratulations to David Floyd for his outstanding driving and attention to the road. Dr. Daniel, President of Athens Technical College and Dennis Ashworth, Vice President of Information Technology, presented David with his Certificate of Superior Performance in recognition of his exceptional driving while in a state vehicle. His award was from Charles “C.G. Lawrence, III, the Chief Loss Control & Safety Officer with the Department of Administrative Services, Risk Management Division.

Dr. Andrea Daniel Named Athens Tech President

Commissioner Gretchen Corbin announced that Dr. Andrea Daniel has been named the next president of Athens Technical College.The state board of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) voted during its monthly meeting today to accept Commissioner Corbin’s recommendation.

2016 EAGLE Nominees Announced

Three Adult Education students have been nominated to participate in the college-level 2016 Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Student of the Year process. The college winner will attend the annual EAGLE Leadership Institute held in Atlanta, sponsored by the Office of Adult Education at the Technical College System of Georgia.

Athens Technical College Receives Grant for Out-of-School Youth Initiative

Athens Technical College has received funding to provide education and job training for out-of-school youth ages 18-24.  Funded by the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission, Bridge to Success provides young people with direct career training and job placement. Eligible individuals can enter the program with or without a high school diploma.

Move On When Ready
Move On When Ready is Georgia's new dual enrollment program that allows high school students to earn college credit while working on their high school diploma. Move On When Ready replaces Accel, HOPE Grant for dual enrollment and the previous Move On When Ready Program. The new Move On When Ready program now covers tutiton, mandatory fees, and required textbooks.
