The Athens Technical College Student Advisory Council (ATSAC) is a group of students elected to represent the entire student body to the administration and other entities.

The purpose of ATSAC is to:

  1. provide the student body with a formal vehicle for communication with the administration, faculty, and staff of Athens Technical College;
  2. provide student representatives with the opportunity to serve in leadership roles;
  3. encourage student involvement in institutional and community improvement projects.

The functions of ATSAC are:

  1. facilitation of effective communication between the student body and Athens Technical College administration, faculty, and staff;
  2. participation in approved institutional improvement projects;
    assistance with selected ceremonies and activities sponsored by Athens Technical College;
  3. representation of the student body in certain public relations activities and recruitment of new students;

  6. approving budget requests from student organizations.

ATCANS provides students pursuing a nursing degree with a platform to network, receive additional educational resources, and gain nursing experience within the community. As the Athens Technical College Chapter to the National Student Nurse’s Association, members will have opportunities to attend conferences, have discounts on educational and general resources to decrease the financial burden of students, and build their resumes prior to graduating.

Our goal is to bring together students in the Social Work Assistant Program and to enhance their professional growth. This provides service opportunities on campus and in the community for students who desire to improve social conditions. It increases visibility of the social work profession and the SWA Program at Athens Technical College (ATC). The association also serves as a networking and social outlet and to provide opportunities for interaction among SWA students.

Membership:

In order to become a member of the ASWA the following criteria must be met:

  1. Current enrollment in the Social Work Assistant program.
  2. Attend at least two ASWA meetings per semester.
  3. Participate in at least two ASWA projects or activities each semester.
  4. Program majors (other than Social Work Assistant) are invited to all meetings, programs, and activities, but may not vote or serve in an Officer position
  5. Alumni members are invited to all meetings, programs, and activities, but may not vote or hold office. The only exception is a serving Alumni Representative
  6. The ASWA does NOT discriminate based on to race, age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or class.
  7. Active members must meet all eligibility criteria in order to vote or hold office.

The Backpack Bridge Club is a student organization whose purpose is to provide transitioning students with the encouragement, motivation, and support they need to feel confident as they begin working toward their college goals. It allows participants who have transitioned from the Adult education GED program to postsecondary education at Athens Technical College to serve as ambassadors and spokespersons for the Adult education program, along with serving as mentors to incoming GED graduate students. The Club provides participants with leadership and volunteer opportunities on campus, in the community, and throughout our eleven-county service area. This is done while serving as a liaison between adult education faculty, students, and the Vice President of Adult Education.

To be considered for selection, students must be GED graduates and in good disciplinary standing in their programs of study and Athens Technical College. If selected for membership, attendance is required at regularly scheduled meetings and with events for which your service is needed.

Forms

The purpose of the Biotechnology Club is to further the knowledge of its members and to participate in biotechnology-related extracurricular activities. Through this club, the members will gain a better understanding of what it is like to be “in the industry” and get a first-hand view of the leading biotechnology industries that are based in Georgia.

Besides educating its members about the biotechnology field, the Biotechnology Club also aims to educate other students about science. We aspire to educate middle school and high school students about the science fields and to encourage an interest in the biotechnology field.

Biotechnology club also aims to educate the school population about the biotechnology field and the various advances in the biotechnology field. With membership, members will also be able to make connections and network with various other societies, including the American Chemical Society and GeorgiaBIO. Creating such a connection can further the members’ knowledge of some of the leading techniques that are used in the biotechnology field.

FBLA Collegiate is the collegiate division of FBLA and is dedicated to inspiring and developing the next generation of leaders by preparing members for careers in business and business-related fields.

There are core themes that run throughout the FBLA Collegiate Roadmap. These themes are:

Lambda Nu is the national honor society for the radiologic and imaging sciences and Athens Technical College has established the Georgia Omega Chapter.

The purpose of this chapter is:

  • To foster academic scholarship at the highest academic level

Eligibility for Membership

The members of this honor society must achieve and maintain the following standards:

  1. Have GPA of 3.5 or higher after three semesters of the radiography program
  2. Be enrolled as a full-time student for at least three semesters
  3. Show evidence of professional commitment beyond minimum requirements of the program

Through the Interior Design Student Association, our goal is to promote high ethical and design standards for our students. Here they can exchange ideas and surround themselves with like minded individuals with similar design goals. We want this program to promote student engagement in volunteer opportunities that benefit non-profit organizations.

The purposes of the Organization are as follows:

  1. To promote high ethical and design standards.
  2. To benefit the membership of the Organization by providing an exchange of ideas, a common meeting ground for understanding, cooperation, education, and an opportunity to keep abreast of development in interior design.
  3. To further emphasize a sense of community within members.
  4. To promote interaction with professional interior designers, interior design organizations and other building arts professionals.
  5. To undertake such programs and activities as may be proper to promote and enhance educational development.
  6. To undertake such programs and activities to promote student engagement in volunteer opportunities to benefit non-profit organizations.
  7. To link this organization to the International Interior Design Association.

The purpose of the International Club is to plan and organize cultural, educational, and social activities which build friendships and unity between the international and American students at ATC; to promote understanding between cultures; and to provide a link between international students and the Athens Technical College community.

Specifically, the International Club shall:

  1. a) Increase awareness of and encouragement in international development through academic and technical education;
  2. b) Promote opportunities for sharing international/intercultural expertise;
  3. d) Encourage faculty, staff, and student participation in international education activities;
  4. e) Develop an international perspective in the ATC community.

Membership in the International Club shall be open to all currently enrolled students who have an interest and is willing to contribute to the purpose of the International Club. Dues are not required for membership.

It is up to the club members to decide what activities they would like to participate in each year, but the students may want to go to local cultural events, befriend international students who will be coming to Athens Technical College with student visas, celebrate International Education Week, participate in the annual International Festival, have special guest speakers attend their monthly meetings, hold fundraisers to fund the organization mission, volunteer for community service projects, etc.

Mission & Purpose Statement

The ATC Music Club’s mission and purpose on campus are to foster and develop students’ extracurricular activities through the medium of music. Our students possess a shared interest in the music of all genres, styles, and mediums. Currently, we have students provide their equipment but plan to expand into different technologies and instruments based on what the club members want.

Membership Eligibility

Membership in the ATC Music Club shall be open to all currently enrolled students and community members interested in attending our meeting. Our meeting schedule may change, but now, it’s set for the last Monday of every month between 12:00-2:00 pm. If you wish to be an active club member off campus, we will have a Zoom Meeting set up for interaction with other students.

  • To develop critical listening and analyzing skills, and enhance the appreciation of music
  • Meet to discuss current music trends in the industry.
  • To develop and maintain progress made in their musical skills throughout the academic year

The purpose of SCNAVTA is philanthropy, career networking, and building of leadership skills. Members will increase their awareness of the Veterinary Technician profession through participation in educational events and community activities. Upon graduation, active members in the student chapter will have the opportunity to become members of the professional organization National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA).

Membership is open to those students accepted into the Veterinary Technology Program.

Activities

Members are invited annually to the UGA-College of Veterinary Medicine’s Spring Open House with an informational booth to promote community understanding of the Veterinary Technician profession. Members attend various regional or national veterinary medical educational conferences. Members participate in fundraising activities, campus-wide events, and animal-health related philanthropic experiences.

The purpose of the PTA SSIG is to promote the profession of physical therapy while enhancing the professional education of physical therapist assistant students enrolled at Athens Technical College.

In this group, we will:

  • Promote and maintain the professional image of the physical therapist assistant and the profession of physical therapy on the Athens Technical College campus, in the local community, and at state and national professional conferences
  • Promote and maintain a positive presence on the Athens Technical College campus and in the community by participating in service activities and wellness activities
  • Promote an understanding of the profession of physical therapy on campus and in the community
  • Promote involvement in the state and national professional organizations- the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia (PTAG) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Rotaract Club is a service, leadership and community service organization for young men and women. Rotaract focuses on the development of young adults as leaders in their communities and workplaces. Clubs around the world also take part in international service projects, in a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. SkillsUSA provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes and communication skills. It emphasizes total quality at work – high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education, and pride in the dignity of work.

SkillsUSA programs include local, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills. Most programs on this campus have competitions available to them.

The Student Ambassador program allows participants to provide service to Athens Technical College as official hosts. The purpose of the Student Ambassador program is to enhance events and communicate college goals. This is done while serving as a liaison between students, faculty, alumni, and the community on behalf of the Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, and other offices as deemed appropriate.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Each candidate must be a full-time/part-time Athens Tech student who has completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at Athens Technical College.
  • Each candidate must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average at the time of application and maintain at least a 3.0 average throughout their membership.
  • No student may hold the position while on academic or disciplinary probation, as defined by the college. Student Ambassadors must have excellent communication skills, well-rounded personality, strong presentation abilities, the ability to think on their feet, and a solid working knowledge of Athens Technical College.

Student Success Club, an organization supervised by the Offices of Student Activities and Retention, is a group of enthusiastic, responsible students who strive for success in their academic, personal, and career choices. Furthermore, these students inspire others and encourage and assist fellow students along their paths. Students in the organization represent an inclusive section of the Athens Technical College student population. They promote and assist with various campus events (i.e. Spring Fling, Fall Festival, etc.)

  • Student Member Officers should commit to serve at a minimum one full academic year (fall semester 2023 and spring semester 2024).
  • Student Members should actively plan meeting days, times, and agendas for the 2023-2024 academic year. Furthermore, members are encouraged to attend at least 75% or more of the meetings annually.

Student Members should plan to be available for the following campus activities: Fall semester welcome week (first week of class), Fall Festival, Spring semester welcome week (first week of class), Spring-fling and other events as designated by the administration.

Membership in the ATC Success Club shall be open to all currently enrolled students and community members interested in attending our meetings. Our meeting schedule may be subject to change depending on the needs of the members.

  • To develop interpersonal skills through a shared social experience.
  • Meet to discuss life skills and other information that leads to success both in life and academically.
  • To help maintain academic and social progress throughout the academic year.

Our students enjoy collaborating and using their time to learn new games, techniques, and skills to play and win a variety of games. Currently, the club has an assortment of games to choose from and will add to the collection as the need arises by using club funds or from fundraising.

Membership in the ATC Tabletop Club shall be open to all currently enrolled students interested in attending our meeting. The current meeting schedule is bi-weekly on Mondays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the Office of Student Activities (H-759).

Video Game Club 

Mission & Purpose Statement

The ATC Video Game Club’s mission and purpose on campus are to foster and develop students’ extracurricular activities through the shared interest of video games, such as Mario Kart. Our students enjoy collaborating and leveraging their time to learn techniques and skills to play and win a variety of video games. Currently, the club has an assortment of video games to choose from and will add to the collection as the need arises by using club funds or from fundraising. Our past funding has also covered the cost of a television, a Nintendo Switch gaming system, and Nintendo Switch games that our students use to play during club time.

The Women in Trades, Technology, & Engineering (WTTE) student organization at Athens Technical College seeks to promote success for women in non-traditional fields of study. It can be challenging for women in non-traditional fields, and this organization strives to help students overcome these challenges through mentoring, support, leadership, and service. Ultimately, we seek to empower women seeking degrees and/or careers where women are in the minority. We will meet regularly to hear speakers, share stories of support, network, find mentors, and serve the campus community. Please feel free to join us!

Student Activities

The purpose of the Office of Student Activities at Athens Technical College is to support the educational and workforce development mission of the institution by creating opportunities for students to develop skills and personal insights beyond their classroom learning. The Office provides activities, programs, and services designed to both challenge and support students’ individual growth through enhanced learning opportunities aimed at engaging students with their peers as well as a variety of faculty, staff, and community partners.

The Office of Student Activities is responsible for the oversight of all student organizations and student activities, advising of the Athens Technical College Student Advisory Council (ATSAC), management of student ID services, coordination of the Student Center on the Athens and Elbert County Campuses, and for developing special initiatives that enhance student learning.
