General Admission Requirements for a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Technical Certificate Programs

Step 1- Please complete and submit an Application for Admission and pay a $25.00 non-refundable application fee.
Step 2- Provide appropriate placement test scores. We accept ASSET, SAT, ACT, ACCUPLACER, and COMPASS placement scores for consideration. If you have not taken a placement test within the last 5 years, Student Services will gladly schedule a time for you to take the ACCUPLACER test at our Athens Campus.
Step 3- Submit ALL official transcripts for high school or GED. If you have attended another college or university, an official transcript must be submitted from each institution. All transcripts should be mailed to the Athens Technical College Admissions Office. Hand delivered transcripts may be submitted if they are delivered in a sealed envelope from the original institution.
Step 4- Provide proof of legal presence in the United States (state issued ID, passport, etc.) and state residency (Georgia Driver's license, voter registration card, state taxes, etc. all showing at least 12 months of residency.) Permanent Residents must provide a copy of their resident alien card.
Step 5- Within a few days of submitting your application you should receive an email confirming the receipt of your application. This email will provide you with a checklist of items that may be required to complete your application. When all necessary items are received and your application is complete, you should receive an acceptance letter in the mail with information regarding advisement and registration.

***If you have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of college course work, a high school or GED transcript is not required.

Transient Students and Special Admissions

Transient students submit only the application, $25.00 non-refundable application fee, and a transient letter from their home institution. University of Georgia Students must submit a current UGA transcript and a "UGA transient Course Request form" in addition to the above items.
Special admit students who are not interested in receiving a diploma, degree, or certificate may submit an application, $25.00 non-refundable application fee, test scores (ACCUPLACER, COMPASS, SAT, ACT, ASSET), and demonstrate that prerequisites for requested courses have been met (transcripts may be required).
