Life Science & Public SafetyThe daily activities of police and detectives vary with their occupational specialty and whether they work for a local, state, or federal agency. Regardless of job duties or location, police officers and detectives at all levels must write reports and maintain meticulous records that will be needed if they testify in court.
Our courses will address improving attention to detail, critical thinking, problem solving, and communication. Graduates of this program can utilize their skills within various levels of law enforcement, the judicial processes, corrections and within security services. Includes instruction but not limited to, criminal justice systems, criminology, juvenile justice, criminal and constitutional law, investigative principles, ethics and communication relations, and professional ethics, standards and regulations. Most police and detectives work for local governments, which offer a varying pay range depending on location and responsibilites. Base starting salaries for graduates start in the mid-40’s.
